Cooking in Our New Kitchen

If you’ve been reading my blog in the last few months you’ll know that we’ve been renovating. In the last 5 days or so we’ve been able to fully use our new kitchen. So today as part of the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge I’m talking about cooking in our new kitchen.

The electrician was here last Wednesday & so I was able to bake in the oven that night. I made some gluten and dairy freechocolate brownies which could have been cooked slightly longer. However my husband enjoyed them as they were quite gooey and moist.

The benches went in last Wednesday and the plumber was here on Friday so we could use the kitchen after that. It was a bit interesting for the first couple of days until everything got moved back up from the temporary kitchen downstairs.

Today I think I’ve finally unpacked everything and managed to organise the kitchen drawers, cupboards & the pantry. There are still a few things to arrange better storage for but it is very functional. We also need to organise the back splash for the kitchen but will do this very soon.

The majority of the furniture had been moved back into the dining room and kitchen. Hopefully I’ll take a video to share in the next couple of days. The laundry is almost done, so hopefully by the end of the week the laundry will be upstairs as well.

So all meals have been prepared in the new kitchen since Saturday. We’re still getting used to the new oven and the new hotplates. My daughter actually used the hotplates before me, as we were out for dinner on both Saturday & Sunday nights. She’s been cooking meals & freezing them in portions to take for lunch. Yesterday I made Chocolate Ripple Bikkies after Jess share the recipe on the Itchin’ Kitchen Facebook page on the weekend.

It’s been weird having the fridge in the kitchen as the newish fridge wouldn’t fit in the old kitchen so it had been in the nearby utility room (roughly were the pantry is now). I’ve put a tray in the pantry to collect ingredients on when cooking & baking, so that I don’t have to make too many trips to the pantry.

All in all were happy with the new kitchen and I’m looking forward to cooking & creating many more recipes in their.

What have you been cooking and baking lately? I’m always after new recipes to try.
