Family Ideas for Holy Week

It’s Holy Week.  In this post I’ll share some family ideas for Holy Week.  You might like to do something each day or just focus on certain aspects such as Good Friday.  Just choose one or two ideas that will work for your family. There are older ideas and links in a previous post I wrote about Holy Week and Easter Family Ideas.  However, this post only contains ideas & links I’ve come across since then.

What is Holy Week?

The week just before Easter & the last week of Lent is Holy Week. This is when we
remember the last week of Jesus’ life. Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday (also called
Passion Sunday), where we commemorate the triumphant arrival of Jesus into Jerusalem
which is described in all four gospels. Other days in the week include Holy Monday, Holy
Tuesday, Holy Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday & Holy Saturday. Maundy
Thursday commemorates the Last Supper. Good Friday commemorates the crucifixion of
Jesus.  Easter Sunday then commences the start of the 50 day Easter season.

What I’m Planning on Doing for Holy Week

I’ve printed of the Holy Week Devotions which we’ll try and use at dinner time, with whoever is here for dinner.  I like the fact that it has questions for different ages & stages.

My plan is to make gluten free hot cross buns for Good Friday.  My daughter sent me a photo of some she has made (not gluten free) and they’ve inspired me.  I might try a different gluten free recipe this year.

We’ll also be attending worship on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

What are you going to do during Holy Week?

And don’t forget that the season of Easter lasts 50 days and there are many ways you can continue the celebration.
