Share Four Somethings – January 2021

I’ve recently found Heather Gerwing’s Share Four Somethings linkup and thought that I might add it to my blogging routine for 2021. I think this will replace my once a month reading log.

Something Loved

I love my blue wing back chair in our lounge room . I’ve been enjoying my morning routine which involves making myself a hot ginger drink and doing morning pages, devotions and reading whilst sitting in my favourite blue chair.

Something Read

I’ve finished four books so far in January.

My favourite non-fiction book this month was Chase the Lion: If your Dream Doesn’t Scare You, It’s Too Small by Mark Batterson. I had read this a couple of years ago really quickly. This time I read no more than a chapter a day. This book really cemented and added a faith element to much of my learning and reading from 2020. So much good stuff in here. Any Mark Batterson book is recommended reading.

My favourite fiction book was Hideaway by Nora Roberts. When I read the blurb on the back of the book it reminded me of the first Nora Roberts book I ever read, The Obsession. Just like The Obsession there were unexpected twists, you think you know what might happen but then something truly shocking is revealed. I like how the story starts with a family history that sets the stage for the novel. Caitlyn is just ten years old when a game of hide-and-seek at a family gathering changes her life forever. The betrayal she experience that night does shape her life for years and she seems to be forever trying to escape the trauma that this event caused. A great story that shows that what real love and true family looks like and that these things can help you through any situation.

Other books I’ve read this month will be reviewed on Good Reads.

Something Treasured

My Epiphany part of my Nativity Set

I treasure my wooden nativity set and have kept part of it out during the season of Epiphany. I’ve kept out baby Jesus in the manger, along with Mary, Joseph & the Wise Men. They’re out as a reminder to keep seeking Jesus, like the Wise Men.

Something Ahead

I held one Webinar last year for parents about adding faith elements to existing Advent & Christmas rituals & traditions. This year I’m planning on holding more regular webinars. My first one is on Tuesday 2 Feb, 1pm AEST and is a Lent/Easter Workshop for parents. It will be about how you can celebrate Lent and Easter as a family.
