Each month I’m going to try and participate in this Share Four Somethings 2022 link-up. Though I planned to do that last year & only managed it once. The four something each month this year are something loved, something gleaned, something braved, something achieved. Each month I think I’ll try and match it to my tagline statement body, mind, heart and soul. Though it may not be in that order, I think each of the four somethings might lend itself to a different thing each month.
So here are my four somethings for January.
Something Loved – Heart
Something I loved in the last month has to be a visit from our daughter. She arrived about 5 days before Christmas and left about 4 days into the New Year. We hadn’t seen her for about 8 months due to lockdowns on & off in both our states and for much of the year she wouldn’t have been able to get into our state, without going into hotel quarantine for 2 weeks. Anyhow it was great to see her in person and have her with us on Christmas Day.
Something Gleaned – Mind
I’ve been enjoying listening to the Hope Writers Tuesday Teaching these last few months while the time zone difference means it’s 5am in the morning, not 4am, like it is for much of the year. Even though some of the guest speakers and topics aren’t as relevant for me as others, I always glean something from the guest each week.
Last week the guest was Anne Bogel from Modern Mrs Darcy. Right at the beginning when she was sharing about how she started her blog back in 2011 she mentioned that she thought she was late to blogging but then said she wasn’t late. But most importantly she told us all “You’re not late, you’re right on time.” This was mainly in reference to writing wherever we’re at and whatever we think we might be late too. Though this not only applies to writing but to other areas of your life as well. You’re not too late to start exercising, you’re not too late to start eating healthier, you’re not too late to intentionally nurture your child/children’s faith. You’re right on time to whatever it is you think you might be late too.
Something Braved – Body
Just before 2021 ended when my husband & I were walking one morning, he suggested that we could run on the flat parts of our walk. Now this varies everyday as we do a coin-toss walk each day, however our area is hilly so it usually involves a fair bit of up & down. Early on when I was doing the coin-toss walk by myself each day I was starting to think that I could walk one section and jog the next (scout pace style). However, I must have got sick or injured because I never did start that. Since the first week in January we have been jogging some of the flatter sections on most of our walks. I started fairly strong but my sciatica is starting to play up & I’m getting sore hips & knees. Though each week we have managed to do some of our morning exercise with some jogging on the flatter sections. I’m glad that I braved have this and have started doing it, even if I am a bit sore at the moment.
Something Achieved – Soul
Late last year, I came home exhausted one day, probably mentally exhausted more than physically exhausted. I really wished I had some hobby set-up that I could just go and keep working on to give my mind a rest. I didn’t feel like reading, unusual for me & I didn’t want to just sit and scroll on my phone.
So, at the start of January, I got out my Bible Journaling Bible that I started about 3 years ago when my friend did a weekly scripture memorising challenge. I had decided that I would decorate my Bible with a relevant picture or similar for each verse. I only managed a few before I stopped this. So, I got out my Bible Journal and am continuing to slowly work on this project. Some days I’ve done a couple of verses and other days I’ve done part of a verse. The aim is to do at least 15mins late each afternoon before starting dinner prep. So far, I’ve managed this on a few afternoons each week but I have the space set-up and am starting to do it.
I had also been writing the verses on a whiteboard on our fridge or other verses that had spoken to me during my Bible reading. Again, the verse on our fridge had been up for a very long time. So, I’ve started at the beginning from the verses from the challenge and will change it each Saturday. I’m up to the 3rd verse up there, so I’m on track with that for now.
What about you? What have you loved, gleaned, braved &/or achieved this month?
I love your coin toss walk idea. I may need to start that once our weather warms some.
Thanks Heather, I’ve been doing the coin toss walk for a while now & it helps keep me motivated to exercise.
Oh I do like that reminder that “you’re not late – you’re right on time”! So glad you were able to be with your family over the holidays!
Visiting from SFS
Thanks Kym. I think we all need that reminder at times & it was lovely to have my family together for the holidays.
“You’re not too old” – oh, but sometimes I do feel quite old. And late to the blogging game. It was good the read that encouragement today. I’m slow getting around to reading all the Share Four Somethings but that was perfect timing for me today! Thanks for sharing –
Thanks for reading my Share For Somethings post & commenting. Glad my post spoke to you.
