Question – Why is Good Friday Good?

As it’s Good Friday today I’d thought I’d share a few thoughts about the question “Why is Good Friday good?”. This is my ‘Q’ post for the A-Z Challenge.

In answer to the question “Why is Good Friday good?” I think this cartoon sums it up nicely.

Cartoon with this - I hate the term 'Good Friday'. Why? My Lord was hanged on a tree that day. If you were going to be hanged on that day, and he volunteered to take your place, how would you feel? Good. Have a nice day.

I know that as a child I found this hard to understand. Why can Good Friday possibly be good if it’s about Jesus dying on the cross for us? I’ve grown to understand how amazing that is!

Growing up we had to wait to Good Friday to have hot cross buns. Another thing that made the day good. Now my children think that idea is crazy. I still mainly only have hot cross buns on Good Friday or the next couple of days. Some years I’ve made these gluten and dairy free hot cross buns.

This year I’ve bought a couple of spelt hot cross buns and have made some hot cross bun truffles.
