Marshmallow Frogs Eyes

This is a yummy sweet treat that is simple to make but effective.  The ingredients are chocolate, marshmallows & smarties.  Not dairy or gluten free but could be adapted.

Frogs Eyes

My Grandmother shared this idea with us years ago after attending an event where someone had made these.  I’m not sure who named them “frogs eyes” but that’s what we call them.  However when I took them to a Nursing Mother’s (now ABA) meeting once a few of the women thought they represented something else!

Earlier today I did some “cooking” with the child I mentor at my local school through the Kids Hope program & we made these.   I had printed out the recipe so she had to read the instructions to know what to do.  She also got to keep the recipe so she can make them on the holidays.  We put some aside for the child I mentor to take home to share with her family, her class members were given 1 each, we shared them with most of the staff and then I took some home.  She likes to make sure that none of the “teachers” miss out, including teacher aides & office staff.  A cleaner who starts at lunch time also got one.

Amazingly enough there was no one in the class with allergies/intolerances so I did not need to find alternatives.  It would be easy enough to make them dairy free by using the right dark chocolate.  A different lolly would need to be added on top to make them dairy and gluten free.  With a quick google search I found these gluten free and vegan candy coated chocolate buttons.

Do you have a quick sweet treat that you like to make?
