Reading Log May 2019

It’s time to share the books I read in May. I read 4 books last month.

Here’s what I read:

168 Hours: You Have More Time Than You Think by Laura Vanderkam

As the title suggests this book is about time management. Laura Vanderkam suggests that you start by logging your time for a week. This way you can see what you are using your time on and make changes to fit in what you want to do. She also suggests you look at what you really need to do and then look at ignoring, minimizing or outsourcing other things. I would recommend this book if you think that you don’t have time to do what you want to do. I still need to print out a sheet so that I can log my time.

Ayesha’s Gift: A daughter’s search for the truth about her father by Martin Sixsmith

Martin Sixsmith was approached by Ayesha (not her real name) to help her investigate her father’s death. This story is based on the facts but is not a factual documentary. Ayesha had come from Pakistan to Britain as a young child. Her father died in Pakistan but all is not as it seems. I learnt a bit about Pakistan from reading this book.

No Man is an Island by Adele Dumont

Adele Dumont volunteers to teach English to men in immigration detention on Christmas Island. This was just a short term role but then she is offered a job at Curtin detention centre. She takes on this role for a couple of years. Adele shares openly and honestly about the experience.

At Home With The Templetons by Monica McInerney

This is the story of two families who are neighbours for a couple of years in country Victoria. The Templeton’s from England who run their stately home as a tourist attraction and single mother Nina and her son. The two families lives become entwined until a tragedy occurs. Will the families be reunited?

With 4 books finished in May that brings my total to 21 books read so far this year. In May last year I read 6 books.
