Reading Log January 2019

This is the start of the 3rd year of keeping a track of the books that I read each month.

I didn’t read many books in January as I was focusing on studying and writing assignments. While I did read lots for my study, I didn’t read many full books.

Here are the 3 books that I read in January:

Shelter in Place by Nora Roberts

My daughter was reading this for a book club. Her first Nora Roberts book. She’s since bought several more at the Lifeline Bookfest. It starts with a shooting in a mall in America and follows the victims afterwards. Someone else is following them as well and is slowly killing survivors. An intense start to the book and definitely a page turner.

The Blessed Child by Rosie Goodwin

Wednesday, or Nessie as she’s known, does everything she can to keep her family together after her father abandons them & her mother is killed. Set in Nuneaton like many of Rosie Goodwin’s books. The fourth book in the days of the week collection of which I’ve read a couple of the others.

The Brain that Changes Itself by Norman Doidge, MD

A fascinating book full of many stories of people whose brains have adapted when things have gone wrong or they haven’t quite developed as others have. Great evidence for neuroplasticity. This was one that we had read a chapter from for our studies but I was interested to read the whole book.

My total books read for January and for the year so far is 3 books. This is 5 books less than this time last year.
