Many people choose one word as a guide for the year. I’ve done this for a few years now. In the past my words have included momentum, connection, now and confident action. This year my one word for 2022 is Enough.
Enough defined
“as much or as many as required. … sufficient amount or quantity …”
Australian Pocket Oxford Dictionary, sixth edition, 2007
Why I chose Enough as my One Word for 2022
I’ve chosen this word to remind myself that I am enough just as I am. I don’t need to do more or be more or learn more. I need to act on what I already know.
This word came to me late last year when I was applying for temporary role to co-ordinate a children’s Christmas holiday program. In preparing my application I realised how much experience and skills I did have to run an event. I have so many skills, knowledge and experience that I can share with others.
Over the year or so I had also been realising how much I do know and I don’t need to keep learning more but just start acting on what I do know. I don’t need to keep signing up to the next thing or buy the next book. I will continue to read new books and no doubt sign up to some new things but I want to start acting on what I know and what I’m feeling led to do.
Affirmations around my One Word 2022 – Enough
I have everything I need.
I am made just right.
I’m not too late, I’m right on time.
I have added writing “I am enough” to the affirmations that I usually write at the end of my morning pages each morning. Another affirmation that I have started writing each day, particularly since coordinating the Children’s Christmas holiday program and is relevant to my one word – enough, is “I have knowledge, skills and experiences to share that can, will & does help others.”
Enough: One Word, One Verse
Last year for the first time I chose a Bible verse to go with my one word after reading about it in Chase the Lion by Mark Batterson and on the One Word Facebook Group I joined.
The verse I have chosen for Enough – One Word for 2022 is:
For in Christ there is all of God in a human body; so you have everything when you have Christ, and you are filled with God through your union with Christ.
Colossians 2:9-10a TLB
So, most of all I am enough because I have Christ. With Christ I can do more than I can ask or imagine (Eph 3:20).
I’ve already added an image with my word to the home screen of my laptop and have added the image & verse to the home screen of my phone.
So I think that’s enough for now about my one word for 2022 😊
Do you pick one word as a guide for the year? If so what is your one word for 2022?
What a wonderful word! And I appreciate your reasoning behind it, too. I am choosing “Enough” to concentrate on during Lent this year. Your Colossians 2 scripture is spot on.
Although my word is Release, it kind of implies Enough within it. Because I have enough, am enough in Christ, I am free to let go of other things. I’m working on it anyway. 🙂
Lisa, thanks for commenting. Interesting idea to choose “enough” to concentrate on during Lent. I like your word release too and yes it’s always a work in progress!
I appreciate how you have applied your One Word Enough to this season of your life, Jillian. I look forward to hearing how the Lord leads you to “act” on different things. Great verse!
Lisa, Thanks for reading my post and commenting.
