“I was grateful for Jill’s coaching as I began in my ministry. Jill was compassionate and understanding towards my experiences, and always responded with kindness and empathy. I was given the space to feel heard and be guided in my decisions and discernment.”

A few years ago when I finished a role in my local church, I was trying to work out what was next for me. I saw someone asking for help in a Facebook Group to do with meal prep for their family. It got me thinking about how I could offer services to people around supporting them with everyday life issues. I was talking to someone about this and they said it sounded like Life Coaching. I explored this briefly but didn’t do anything about it. The idea of coaching people has not gone away.
In 2022/2023 I completed a Coach Mastery Certificate with Arrow Coaching. I am now using these coaching skills to come alongside parents and church leaders as they nurture their families or the people they serve. You’ll find more information about my coaching services at Nurture Life and Faith Coaching.
What is Coaching?
Coaching uses active listening and questions to assist you to discover insights and empower you to take next steps and continue to change & improve your life. Coaching focuses on learning instead of teaching. Coaching gives clarity and helps you move forward.
Coaching is an ongoing intentional conversation that empowers a person or group to fully live out God’s calling.
p13 The Coach Model for Christian Leaders by Keith E. Webb
You might be ready for coaching if:
- You have goals, skills, or learning projects you want to achieve
- You could use a listening ear and an honest perspective from an outsider
- You need to make some choices, but lack clarity
- You could use someone to help you focus, challenge you, and hold you accountable to your commitments & dreams
- You’re ready to commit some thought & time to your development
- You desire to achieve increased results in your life and/or profession
- You are willing to make changes to the life you want

What is the difference between mentoring and coaching?
A mentor feeds in and is generally older or more experienced than the person they are mentoring.
Whereas a coach draws out from the person they are coaching (coachee). A coach asks questions to help the coachee increase their own awareness and perspective around a particular issue.
How can I support you as a Coach?
The main 2 areas that I focus on in coaching are:
- Coming alongside parents to support them as they nurture their children in body, mind, heart & soul.
- Coming alongside church leaders to support them as they grow thriving intergenerational churches.
“Jillian is such a patient listener that she distills the richness in what is being thought through. The obscure becomes obvious and the path ahead becomes clear.”
